CONFERENCE The aristocratic patrons of Monte Filottrano: Palaces and decorations between the 16th and 18th centuries 24 November 2022 6.30pm PALAZZO ACCORRETTI – BALBI FILOTTRANO The medieval city changed between 1400 and 1700 with the construction of palaces, a new residential typology, expression of the local aristocracy. The palaces of Monte Filottrano generate a new urban design and give a new image to the city, representing at the same time a cultured clientele that is told through the facade, the portal, the refined decorations of the interiors, importing architectural styles and typologies from the Italian Renaissance to to the century of the Enlightenment, reinterpreted with local resources and the skilled craftsmen from the Marches. To the Gentiloni and Accorretti, already settled in the Middle Ages and stable until the 19th century, other families were added starting from 1400 such as those of the Lavinj, Rondini, Fiorini, Perozzi, Tofani, Spada, and many others from other regions, up to the 19th century with the Garampi and Bourbon del Monte. None of these families lives in Filottrano anymore, but all survive in the architecture of the city.
